A Brief History of Rosé

Rosé wine boasts a storied history, believed to date back to around 600 BC when the Greeks founded the city of Massalia, now known as Marseille, in southern France. Early winemaking techniques produced lighter-colored wines, similar to today's rosé, due to the brief maceration period of the grape skins with the juice.

Rosé's modern renaissance began in the mid-20th century, particularly in Provence, which remains a global center for rosé production. Celebrated for its refreshing, fruity profile and versatility, rosé has become a staple of warm weather dining and celebratory gatherings.
